The Story

We began our historic partnerships with the hospitality industry in 1947,
along the hotel-lined streets of Miami Beach, Florida.

Back in the early days, SAV would showcase film screenings for hotel guests. Since then, we have evolved from a single-storefront operation to a national leader in audio visual services with a proud history of experience and a powerful brand name. Each decade in our long history has seen new technological advancements and successful partnerships, resulting in a growing network of high-profile clients across multiple regions.

Our Milestones

Southern Audio Visual was founded in 1947 in Miami Beach, Florida, by Bernard Lowenthal. SAV became a part of South Florida’s unique history by screening popular movies of the 1940s and 50s to hotel guests. Soon after, SAV expanded from film screenings and began its long tradition of offering the best in technological advancements by renting out equipment to local hotels.

SAV began screening 16mm movies at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach to entertain hotel guests.

1970

1970s

Ron Lowenthal carried on his father’s tradition by leading the company through the 1970s and early 1980s, as SAV grew beyond the borders of Miami Beach and into Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Orange counties.

By 1980, SAV managed several key hotel accounts throughout South Florida. Their status as the region’s leading audio visual provider to hotels was well established.

1987

Paul Lowenthal joined the family business as Controller for SAV.

1994

1994

Paul Lowenthal purchased SAV in 1994, marking the beginning of a decade of significant growth for SAV that continues today!

1995

1995

SAV began working with the historic Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida.

2000

SAV launched its long, successful partnership with Ritz-Carlton Hotels.

2003

2003

SAV’s growth reached new heights when it expanded service to New York City in 2003.

2006

The iconic Fontainebleau Miami Beach selected SAV as their audio visual partner for their grand re-opening.

We saw the opening of the Chicago and Washington D.C. markets for SAV.

2009

2009

SAV’s progress, in 2009, led to their expansion from a 16,520 sq. ft. warehouse to a sprawling 26,420 sq. ft. multi-use facility.

SAV celebrated 30 years of consecutive service for PGA National.

2015

2015

2015 marked 15 years of consecutive service for the Mandarin Oriental in Miami and 20 years of service for the Biltmore Hotel.
